His father, Shoigu Kuzhuget Sereevich, at that time worked as the editor of the republican newspaper Shyn (Pravda), later served as secretary of the Tuva Regional Committee of the Communist Party, first deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Tuva ASSR.
